Now what? |
A portion of the sidewalk on Green Street along the inside of the bend in the street has always presented challenges for pedestrians. It is nothing short of disgraceful; an affront to all pedestrians. No pedestrians should be allowed to approach it. This is, of course, along our beloved truck route.
With cars and plenty of trucks passing close by, where the accepted minimum speed limit seems to be 30 mph and the maximum about 40 mph, one must step into the street, maybe even cross the street at a bend where traffic headed into town is unseen. But it has gotten worse recently, with the beams of the wall falling out onto the sidewalk and no one seeming to care -- neither the property owner nor City Hall.
Now what? |
I wonder if Code Enforcement or DPW or anyone from City Hall has ever tried to make this sidewalk usable so as not to force pedestrians into the street. Will they ever? Maybe they will when a speedy tractor trailer hits and kills someone, or a mother and her child, trying to get across the street at night to avoid the sidewalk from HELL.
