The Power Of The Keyboard!

This is what the HIC has
to show for after 5 years
7 days after HUDseen's March 20th article, titled Why Does The Community Need To See This Junk For Years?, the area in front of the Hudson Islamic Center's mosque-in-progress was quite a different sight.  It is now respectable -- no more junk, no more anything, and you can actually see all of the steps.

On Tuesday, as a crew of two was dumping the "junk" into a dump truck (mostly bags of cement that had been rained on for years), I asked a worker if it was "all garbage?"

He replied: "Yup, it's all garbage."

4 or 5 loads of GARBAGE were dropped into the dump truck and off it went.  The bricks and blocks were either put inside the building or behind it, along with all their other building materials waiting to be utilized.  Just as I had suggested.

The groundbreaking for the mosque took place in April of 2018, 5 years ago.  They are still nowhere near completing the project, and the sounds and sights of actual construction are a rarity. Actually, the cleanup on Tuesday at the mosque-in-progress was the most activity I have seen there in a long, long time.

If you want to explore the history of the mosque-in-progress, I suggest you head over to Gossips of Rivertown and put HIC mosque in the search bar.  Carole has reported extensively on the mosque, going back prior to the groundbreaking.  The process did not start well, and things haven't gotten any better.
