Go Figure!

Instead of replacing this sign...

Welcome to Hudson:  We Don't Care!

We get this sign/historical marker...

Honestly, who cares about this guy?

The cracked, peeling, insulting, and fast becoming unreadable sign in Hudson's Riverfront Park that has everything to do with the Hudson River and the City of Hudson is left alone, while a new sign about a French aristocrat parading through the city centuries ago that no one really cares about and has absolutely nothing to do with the river is installed and the mayor is there to celebrate.

My guess is that since the old, falling apart sign was a gift from our friends at Colarusso, no one at City Hall is comfortable touching it, even if it is falling apart, looks like crap and is difficult to read.  Gee, I hope the sign about General what-was-his-french-name never becomes such an embarrassing, unreadable eyesore.

Our little city along the banks of the Hudson River that shares a name with the river can't even maintain a decent sign near the river's edge explaining the history of the city and its storied connection to the river.  Meanwhile, the mayor has announced his plan for the city to achieve "zero emissions and 100% renewable energy by 2040."  Go figure.

You'd think someone like the mayor ($75,000 salary) or DPW Superintendent Robert Perry (just $115,000 salary) would care enough to find the condition of the sign unacceptable and get it replaced.  Like years ago.  "Sorry, we're too busy saving the planet in 20 years!"
