19 Inches!

This afternoon, an hour before I noticed this obscenity in front of the f'ng Maker, I came across two large clothing racks directly in the middle of the sidewalk on the opposite side of Warren Street.  When I asked the owner why he needed to leave his racks directly in the middle of the sidewalk, he asked me, "Is it a problem?  Can't you just walk around them?"  He reluctantly moved them to the curb and continued to whine about my complaint.

Some people, especially those at the Maker, just don't get it.  It would be interesting to ask Lev Glazman and Alina Roytberg, the owners of the Maker, if they feel that the Hudson City Code which requires 3 feet of space on all of our sidewalks for pedestrians is worthwhile or not.  Or just ask them how they generally feel about people who don't patronize their business.  Such as:  What's more important, another sign for your business, this one blocking a large portion of the sidewalk, or the safety of and respect for pedestrians and the disabled?

City Hall?  I wouldn't even bother asking them what they think about the Maker leaving 19 inches of sidewalk for all to try to pass by without falling on their chin.  It obviously doesn't matter to anyone in City Hall, including the Mayor's Office.
