We Will Have To Get Used To This (And Worse)

These pictures were taken late this morning in the Riverfront Park, about two hours before the high tide.  We are in a new moon phase, which has just as much effect on tides as the full moon does. (I only just learned this about the new moon.)

There has been discussion about changes needed along our waterfront in preparation for the river level rising as a result of climate change and melting glaciers, more storms, etc.  One of the first things that could and should be done is to remove the garbage can at the end of the peninsula that is too close to the water and never should have been installed there in the first place, regardless of crazy high tides.  It doesn't need to be there, it's ugly and soon enough it will be spilling trash into the river if it hasn't done so already.

The boat launch parking lot was nearly half submerged in (rising) water.

What's with the 2 benches that seem to be floating?

Seeing all this water spilling into our park (more so lately, it seems), and constantly being reminded about climate change's effects, I often visualize the final scene in the film Woman At War from 2018.  That scene was pretty grim (though likely realistic), but the film is actually fun, funny and really well done - "a tragicomedy about an environmental activist."  If you enjoy a good movie and you haven't seen this one, I recommend tracking it down if you can.

(It is titled Woman at War, not Women At War!)
