I've Run Out of Clever ONE WAY Headlines

A day or two after Hudseen posted an article on February 28th about the missing ONE WAY sign at 5th & State, DPW installed another "permanent" ONE WAY sign in the concrete on the sidewalk.  That would have been ten or eleven days ago, not even two weeks.

Early this afternoon, with what looked like the result of a fresh strike, the ONE WAY sign was flat on the sidewalk once again after being struck by a vehicle.  It must have been quite an impact.  This, of course, was the ONE WAY sign welcoming drivers to one way 5th Street, not PREVENTING them from driving in the wrong direction on it.

When will Robert Perry get the idea that the universe doesn't need, or want, any ONE WAY signs at that intersection? It's a waste of time and money and the signs just get toppled soon after a new one is put up. Use your ONE WAY signs where they are needed and where they will keep our intersections and streets safe, please! STOP WASTING TAXPAYER'S MONEY AND YOUR DEPARTMENT'S TIME, PLEASE!!!!

DPW was called right away about the downed sign.  As they are so accustomed to, DPW will clean up the mess, place a cone over the gnarled metal remains of the "breakaway" that failed, spray paint the street once again, extract the failed "breakaway" they installed in the concrete less than two weeks ago, install another one in its place with fresh concrete, wait a few days and then attach a pole and a ONE WAY sign to the breakaway and hope for the best.

Why?  Because, of course, that's the way it's always been done!

Here is the article from less than two weeks ago: A Better Way.

Will DPW bother spray painting AGAIN?

There's no reason not to think that a turning tractor trailer knocked the sign over today.  (If it was a car, it suffered some serious damage from the curb!).  I have noticed an increase recently in the number of tractor trailers making their way down State Street after having turned off of the truck route on Green Street.  This is going on while City Hall is focusing on the 9G/South 3rd Street portion of the truck route.  It's like a never-ending game of whack-a mole where there are no winners.

Welcome To Hudson, The City of Two-Toned Streets

Our new two-tone Warren Street, still full of cracks.  It appears to be narrower, like some sort of brain teaser.  With two fresh strips of ...
