The sign on the wall has falsely claimed it for more than a year, but it is now true. Work is in progress on Galvan's awful plan to renovate two buildings to create a 30-room hotel and restaurant/bar with zero off-street parking at the corner of 4th & Warren. That's right, a hotel and restaurant at a busy intersection in the heart of downtown Hudson with every customer/guest who arrives by car looking for a parking space on a street or in a lot! For those of you who drive, have you recently tried to park anywhere near 4th & Warren on a busy Saturday in downtown Hudson?
In addition to those buildings on the east side of 4th between Warren and Prison Alley, Galvan owns both of the houses north of the alley, and the former Helsinki nightclub at Columbia. While they haven't made an effort to apply a moniker for their empire on that block of 4th like they did for their empire near 7th & State (I refuse to name it), they likely will. Soon, they will erect signs to try to get City Hall and every Hudson resident to refer to the area as the Galvan District or some such nonsense. If any naming is going on for the area, there are really just two options to choose from: Hey Planning Board, What The Hell Were You Thinking?! and HOTEL HELL!
Pretty soon this "sidewalk" on 4th Street will be blocked as well. |
