It is the hottest day of the year (and hottest day in years) during the hottest week of the year so far (and hottest week in years) during what will likely be the hottest month ever on planet earth in recorded history (following the hottest month ever on planet earth), but you wouldn't know it by visiting the City of Hudson's website. Today we have dangerously hot conditions all over the city and especially indoors, but there is no information for seniors or anyone concerned about dying or suffering in this heat -- no information about any cooling centers in the city, if there are any. No helpful information about beating the heat. But thankfully, we now know the new summer hours in the very well air-conditioned City Hall! The only conclusion you can draw from this about Kamal Johnson, the person ostensibly managing our city, is that he doesn't give a crap about anyone other than himself and his cronies. Yesterday, I visited 520 Warren Street to talk to Kamal about a quality-of-life issue at the corner of 6th & State that he has been aware of since last September and that DPW refuses to do anything about. The air temperature on both floors was quite comfortable relative to the outdoors, even a little cold for my taste. Kamal and his new aide were in their offices with the windows closed, at least one a/c pumping cold air while neither of them was sweating or complaining about the temperature. Even Tom Depietro, in a rare appearance, was in his office with his window closed and door wide open while talking with Michelle Tullo. Both of them also seemed very content and comfortable.
Cooling center? Who needs a cooling center when Kamal and his buds have got their own chilly offices at City Hall? (How low is that thermostat set, Kamal, and who is paying for all that electricity your air conditioners are sucking up day after day and night after night?)
I do seem to remember during a hot spell last summer or the previous summer that there was mention on the city website about a cooling center, possibly inside the Central Firestation at 7th Street & Washington. Not now! Hell, there isn't even mention on the website of the cool water available to be swum in at Oakdale Park. But that sickening video of Kamal promoting tourism for the city is still up on the main page!
Things really are improving in Hudson thanks to our mayor! He must be so proud of his accomplishments and efforts to be so inclusive and helpful to everyone who lives in Hudson! Kamal is most definitely the PEOPLE'S MAYOR!
