National Grid's contractor rips out sections of sidewalk containing painted yellow curbs. National Grid's contractor replaces sidewalk sections to the street but does not paint curbs yellow. DPW Stuperintendent Robert Perry, if aware of the missing yellow paint, does not force National Grid to replace the yellow paint they removed. Four or five months later, tired of waiting and tired of cars parking in a NO PARKING ZONE created by DPW whose entire curb hadn't been fully repainted by DPW in years, business owner buys yellow paint and pays handyman to properly repaint the entire block of curb with yellow paint so that the busy truck route is as safe as possible, as safe as it was 5 months ago and brighter than it has been in years. Business owner claims that she got permission from DPW to repaint the entire block of curb.
What the hell is going on with this city as it relates to DPW? Something is not right, and it can't just be chalked up to staffing issues.
You have to wonder when, or if, DPW would have gotten their yellow paint to South 3rd Street if a business owner hadn't done the job for them this week. Why is this even happening? Welcome to Hudson. |
Who is Robert Perry hoping will replace the continually failing surface of South 3rd Street, repaved by Colarusso just 7 years ago? Is he hoping that Galvan will step up with the tens of thousands of dollars in material and labor that is required to make the street decent again, ALL OF 7 YEARS AFTER THE STATE PAID DPW TO PAY COLARUSSO TO REPAVE IT?
Who is Robert Perry hoping will replace the base of the streetlight on 6th Street that has had a gaping hole in it for years? His mother, if she is still alive? When is Robert Perry hoping that the State DOT will finally fix the longtime dangerous water drainage issue along the truck route where bicyclists are forced to either ride through an enormous, half inch-deep puddle or swerve into the middle of the street and hope to continue without being run over by a car, bus or semi-trailer travelling at 30 or 40 miles per hour? (Can you imagine the headlines if the dead bicyclist were a Hudson cop on bicycle patrol?! Robert Perry: "I wasn't aware of the water regularly accumulating there after every rain. I didn't know anything about it. I never seen it before, honestly.")
Who is Robert Perry waiting on to remove the several dangling strings of lights from trees on Warren Street? Santa Claus?
Who is Robert Perry hoping will replace his fucked up mess of a storm drain on Carroll Street that he has been ignoring for several months and that could easily put a bicyclist in the morgue? The tooth fucking fairy?
