Let's See How Long This Loveliness Sticks Around On Warren Street

The rubbery cover to the lid of this can had been cracked, broken and with pieces missing for at least the past year.  Now it is almost completely gone, leaving mostly rusty metal, soon to be all rusty metal.  This can, in the 500 block of Warren, along with all the others, is emptied by DPW nearly every day.

Why DPW uses the rubbery covers on some lids is a mystery to me.  Most of the lids are uncovered metal painted black.

DPW, as is the norm, was busy with trash can maintenance this past winter.  They didn't touch this can, otherwise it wouldn't be the ugly rusty mess it is now.

Speaking of rust... Hudson isn't in the rust belt, are we?
