Another Trashed Trash Receptacle

Is a trash can really
 needed here?

Yet another trashed trash receptacle, this one at 3rd and State a few days ago.  I saw a similarly trashed one in front of FINCH a week ago which DPW quickly replaced.

How many more?

Until about a year ago, the receptacle at this intersection was at the corner across 3rd by the bodega.  A tractor trailer took care of that one, so DPW thought it would be safer elsewhere.  The question is, especially now that that bodega is gone: Is a trash can at this intersection really necessary?  Will the intersection become a littered mess without one?  Are there really a lot of people with an urgent need to dispose of their candy wrappers, soda cans and coffee cups at 3rd and State?  How many more cans will DPW replace there until they get the message that it simply isn't worth it?

And By 8pm...

... the two short term parking signs we spent $38 on that were made into garbage by a passerby yesterday or the day before at 6th & Co...
