Florida? What if He Were in Hawaii?

You may remember that a bank robbery took place early last year at the Trustco Bank, located at 5th and Warren.  Thankfully, the robber was no seasoned, dangerous criminal, and no one was hurt or killed or even shot at.  In fact, no weapon of any kind was involved, just a note demanding to hand the money over.  And that is what the bank teller did (though how much money was handed over I don't know).  The perp then escaped down Cherry Alley and vanished before HPD arrived.

HPD Chief Ed Moore mentioned the robbery at a subsequent Informal Council meeting, saying that there was an active, on-going investigation.  Then there was no word about the robbery or the investigation all year.

That quiet changed last month at the February Informal Common Council meeting, a year and a week to the day after the robbery.  Ed Moore told us that the suspect had left his hat behind, HPD investigators had it analyzed at a lab for DNA, and that they had "located the suspect in Florida."  Then Ed said this:  "Detectives will be travelling to Florida in the next few days to return him to answer charges for the bank robbery."

Unarmed and off to Florida

Perhaps we will get an update from Ed at next week's Council meeting about the plight and whereabouts of the unarmed bank robber suspect hiding out in Florida.
