What "Beautiful Bicycle Trails"?

I do my best to stay off of Facebook (or Meta whatever), but do occasionally take a look at the Hudson Police Department's FB page to see what they are up to.  Sometimes I laugh, sometimes I wonder who is in charge there.  This post from a few weeks ago, regarding a Law Enforcement Bicycle Patrol Course, elicited both responses.  I had never previously seen or heard mention of HPD's "Annual Mountain Bike School," nor, as far as I know, has Ed Moore mentioned it at any recent Informal Council meetings.

This 5 day course appears to be open to all law enforcement personnel from throughout the state.  The notice claims the following:  Training Site:  The Hudson Police Department located at 701 Union Street ... Hudson is surrounded by some of the most beautiful bicycle trails that New York State has to offer.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  Plus, why do students of the course need a "beautiful bicycle trail" to learn how to ride their police bicycle properly and safely on paved streets, including working on "obstacle negotiations, dismounts, takedowns, suspect contact and tactical response with firearms"?

Will the training take place on the Empire State Trail, perhaps behind the Goodwill store in Greenport?  Will Sgt. Nick Hodges be training his students by drawing his weapon on bicyclists passing by on the public trail?  Maybe even trying some "takedowns" on an unsuspecting family out for a leisurely ride?

For 5 days, Sgt. Hodges (and anyone else at HPD?) will not be in a Hudson police cruiser trying to issue tickets to speeding drivers, red light runners, or responding to calls for help.  No, he will be training other cops in a Mountain Biking Course, perhaps on an imaginary "beautiful bicycle trail" somewhere here in Hudson. I wish I could sign up for the course, just to see where these "beautiful trails" are located.
