Stately, Indeed!

It has been over two weeks since the portion of sidewalk in front of 519 State Street was removed.  This is a vacant building, though as of the beginning of the year it was not on the CEO's list of vacant buildings.  Tax records show the name of the owner as Casa Stately, LLC.

I noticed this missing and blocked off sidewalk on Union Street at 3rd Street one week ago.  It looks the same today as it did 7 days ago, as if no one has been working on it.  I asked the clerk at the DPW office if they had issued a sidewalk permit to the building owner or contractor working there.  The reply was "no."  Anyone redoing a sidewalk is required to submit plans to the city for approval.  If the property owner or contractor weren't issued a Sidewalk Permit for the sidewalk replacement work, do you think they submitted plans for the work?

What is clearly obvious to me is that the City of Hudson is ill equipped to deal with issues such as these.  It either can't handle them, or it just doesn't want to.  Mayor Johnson's efforts are as weak or non-existent as any of his predecessors in recent years.
