Here are some regular unwelcome noises at 6th & State that DPW and the Mayor's Office have no sense of urgency to quiet. The clatter can be heard from the sidewalk, from the stoops of and inside nearby houses, including from bedrooms and living rooms facing State Street even when windows are closed, as well as from backyards.
Both the rim surrounding the manhole cover and the cap to the water valve have been loose for at least three months. KLICK KLACK KLANG KLANG, all day and night, in a residential area. This car in the video hit both of them.
Just about every vehicle headed north on 6th turning left onto State hits the manhole cover and, of course, the loose rim surrounding it. KLANG KLANG.
The valve cap is louder than the manhole cover -- if a truck hits it just right it is ridiculously loud. Of course, the cap will just pop out at some point. Maybe then DPW will replace it with a secure, noiseless one, though of course we shouldn't have to wait that long.
