A few minutes after my call to HPD, two HPD vehicles arrived to the park. Such a wonderful use of HPD resources and money!
I have been told by the new person in charge at HPD that regular foot patrols through the 7th Street Park, even just once daily, are not feasible. Meanwhile, since they responded so quickly, the two officers apparently weren't doing anything all that important when I called today. Whatever those officers were doing, though, was more important than them making an effort to walk through the park today for a few minutes to take care of any of the common issues that just might happen to be waiting for them. You know, like the good old days when you might actually see a cop or two walking the pavement on foot patrol instead of being stuck in their vehicles or snacking on donuts at the station waiting for a call.
