It's As If They WANT There To Be Vehicle Accidents

They, of course, are the folks at City Hall -- from DPW, HPD, the Mayor' Office and the Common Council -- who allow a 10-foot wide trailer to park on a city street for as long as it likes, even along our truck route.

When a car and a truck traveling at 20 or 30 mph meet head-on, which driver and vehicle do you think are most likely to suffer the most?  If two tractor trailers travelling at 30 mph on Columbia Street were to meet head-on because one suddenly swerved to avoid a 10-foot wide parked trailer, do you think the city would then do anything about allowing parked trailers on our streets?  How about if one of those trucks were filled with thousands of gallons of gasoline for delivery and it wound up on its side spilling its contents into the street and onto properties?  Would the city still do nothing?

The City of Ithaca, NY, has a Streets and Facilities Division within its Public Works Department.  Hudson has no such thing.  We can only assume that Robert Perry and Shane Bower are doing their very best to keep pedestrians, cyclists and drivers and their passengers safe, out of harm's way and not involved in preventable vehicle accidents.

But are they?
