NEXT STOP: LANDFILL! |
There's a good chance the little, dispisable flags were made in China anyway!
Take the total amount of garbage that the US produces and divide it by the population, and we each throw away between 4 and 5 pounds of garbage PER DAY! That is around 1,7000 pounds of waste landfilled or incinerated in our country per person per year, nearly one ton per person every year.
The United States has 4 percent of the world's population but produces around 12% of the world's municipal solid waste. We are the world leader in per capita garbage production. The trend in the US and the world is NOT less garbage production, it is more. A lot more. The price of a robust economy is more and more trash and more global warming gases. A "sustainable" economy merely leads to an unsustainable planet -- there can be no rational argument denying this.
The good times cannot last much longer.
