At about 6:00 pm last night, a full half hour into May's Public Works Board meeting, member Dave Marston interrupted the meeting as he entered the chambers and took a seat. His voice could be heard by everyone as Justin Weaver was addressing the small group with important details about the city-wide sidewalk repair project, unfortunately known as SID (it sounds and looks like a sexually transmitted disease, doesn't it?). Justin, who looked slightly annoyed, stopped speaking in mid-sentence, looked Dave's way and said, "I'm sorry, I'm losing my train of thought."
Committee head Gary Purnhagen, trying to keep the meeting moving forward and also looking annoyed, made a comment in Dave's direction trying to put an end to his commotion, then said to Justin, "I'm sorry, Justin. So, stay with it, please."
Justin resumed, "Yes, I was just saying that we need to determine..." before he was uninterrupted once again by fellow committee member Dave Marston. "The meeting hasn't started yet, right?" he asked.
In unison, Purnhagen and Weaver told Marston, "The meeting started at 5:30."

That's Marston in the middle, soon after he arrived a half hour late to the 36-minute meeting. |
Marston, in disbelief, responded, "5:30? Since when?" He was clearly not joking.
Justin responded to Dave, somehow without yelling and without any hint of snarkiness, "Four meetings ago when you were here and it was determined that we were going to..."
But before Justin could complete his sentence, Marston, while shaking his head, interrupted him once again: "5:30 is tight. Allright. My bad."
Six minutes later, Purnhagen wrapped up the meeting.
According to meeting minutes and YouTube videos, Marston was present at January's PWB meeting when it began at 6:00. He was also present for the entirety of February's and March's meetings which both began at 5:30. He did not attend last month's meeting which, of course, began at 5:30.
At the beginning of last night's meeting, with just Gary and Justin in the room and no other committee members on Zoom, Gary announced, "Unfortunately, we do not have a quorum. We're hoping that might change as the evening progresses."
