PEDESTRIAN UNFRIENDLY!!! DISABLED UNNAVIGABLE!!! ILLEGAL! DANGEROUS! WHERE IS OUR CURB RAMP? |
Didn't the U. S. Department of Justice come to town several years ago to point out to City Hall that a curb without a ramp at the end of a pedestrian crossing path is not in accordance with the Americans With Disablities Act and that it is illegal? Yes, they did! Hell, I'm not disabled, but I'm sick of the step up and step down my feet and legs are forced to make every time I walk those two blocks of South Front, and I can't imagine I'm not the only one who feels annoyed. If I needed a cane to walk, I'd be shaking it at someone at City Hall. Preferably Rob Perry, though Kamal Johnson would do.
It seems to me that the Front Street portion of the DRI project is incomplete as long as those four transitions are without pedestrian curb ramps. We've been waiting for far too long for ramps there for the $10 million DRI project to come and go without providing them.

What is missing? |
Which one of the two or three worthwhile council members do you suppose will ask Rob Perry why Luizzi failed to create four pedestrian curb ramps at two intersections along the east side of South Front Street below Warren while creating three ramps at two other intersections, specifically Allen (2) and Cross (1)? I would love to hear Perry's response.

Cherry Alley. Step down, walk, step up. Repeat on your way back. If you are able to. |

Union & Front. That's a 7-incher in the foreground. Step down, walk, step up. Repeat if you are able to. |

The upper portion of the Front Street sidewalk has been completely covered in gravel for weeks. No one wants to take responsibility, and DPW don't give a shit. |

The end of Partition got new curb ramps as part of last year's CHIPs project, though they do not line up well. |
