Who Would Want To Hug This Tree, Let Alone Admire It? or How Does A Trail Camera Protect Us From Babesiosis?

While there is at least one conspicuous trail/surveillance camera in the back of Oakdale Park, what you won't find anywhere are signs warning hikers about ticks and the diseases they so easily transmit to humans walking in the woods. In our largest and wildest public park, we have a surveillance camera attached to a tree 7 feet off the ground but not one sign anywhere to maybe keep someone from getting bit by a tiny insect that just might kill them or cause them a life of misery and medical bills.

The latest news is that the tick season we are presently in is predicted to be the worst we have ever had. Here is a quote from a recent article in the Upstate Medical University online newsletter:  "The risks of Babesiosis and Anaplasmosis are comparable to Lyme and the same recommendations apply."  In other words, don't count on that trail camera (or any others) to protect you from Babesiosis, Lyme or Anaplasmosis.  Don't count on Hudson City Hall (including the Youth Department!) to protect you or your children from any of those nasty diseases, either.  City Hall is not concerned for your well-being; they clearly have other things to worry about and people to surveil.

The unstealthy Surveillance State has arrived in
Oakdale Park. Hoo-fucking-ray!
(This one is called the "Stealth Cam")

I think CRASS is the word that best
describes this. The soon to depart director
of the Youth Department is likely responsible
for this obscenity.  Or just some creep.

Thanks, City Hall, you really have your priorities and ours well considered!
