Wish Them Well! They're Going To Need It!

Over the weekend, I spoke with the new owners of 425 Columbia Street while they were doing a bit of weed and poison ivy control in front of the weed, poison ivy and plywood-covered eyesore that had been equally neglected for far too long by the previous owner as it had been ignored by Hudson Code Enforcement.

In fact, the house had been so neglected and ignored for so long by the owner and Code Enforcement that it is not habitable by the new owners.  And it never can be, no matter the effort.  The foundation and practically every other aspect of the structure are in such disrepair that the owners have no choice but to remove the house, right down to the foundation, and build something new.  That is what they knew they would have to do prior to purchasing the property to live there eventually.  The owners, who have lived in Hudson for several years, are hoping to have a brand new, habitable home at 425 Columbia by 2027.

Maybe then Code Enforcement can finally stop concerning itself with 425 Columbia, a property that has been on their useless Vacant Buildings Registry for years (and likely will be until the house comes down).

To see some pictures of 425 Columbia from 2 years ago and read about the property, click here: 425.  The article begins with a different eyesore property but eventually gets to the house along the truck route that will soon, thank goodness and with no assistance from City Hall, no longer be.  Of course, it never should have come to this.
