No F'ng Warning? No One Paying Attention Again?

The local contractor dealing with pipes below the 500 block of State Street at Dodge Street left one lane of traffic yesterday afternoon when they packed up for the day.  There is not one sign anywhere east or west of the narrowed-to-a-single-lane construction site with two huge holes in the street warning drivers of what lies ahead.  On the State Street Speedway at a fucking intersection, all night in the dark as well!  And we'll probably have the same thing tonight.

Some drivers go to the left, some to the right.  It's
always a dangerous situation when no one is quite sure
which way to go. Think Rob Perry cares?

It is apparent to me that Rob Perry lets contractors pretty much do whatever they want, especially on our streets and sidewalks, regardless of the consequences for others, including residents.  It's more than a bit scary what he chooses not to pay attention to.  His lack of attention creates trouble, hassles and quality of life issues for us, and I have no doubt that Perry's aloofness has created lawsuits for the city.

Of course, if the obscene situation at State and Dodge were to create a car crash (possibly involving bicyclists, pedestrians, children, possibly killing someone), a decent attorney would have a very good case to sue the city for negligence.  And how would Rob Perry respond?

Attorney: "You created one lane of traffic and you made the choice to not warn motorists of it?"

Perry:  "No, sir, I didn't choose.  I didn't even know."

These two cars stopped (one quite abruptly), unsure of who was
to proceed BETWEEN THE TWO HOLES IN THE STRTEET!

In a lot of ways around here, we are on your own.  City Hall ain't much help.  And it seems to be getting worse, not better.

Stay safe out there, drive, ride and walk defensively, and Happy Birthday to me!

Remember, this is the most direct line to our $123,000 DPW Superintendent, the unlisted business phone number of the guy who does not have an office in, and is NEVER found in, City Hall and who does not want to hear from you, speak to you or be concerned with your issues related to his  Department of Public Works with the 6 million dollar budget:  518-965-5235.

Again, that's 518-965-5235.
