Word On The Street (Lower Warren, Specifically) Doesn't Look Good For Luizzi. Or For Us!

A few days ago, I had a chat with an acquaintance who lives on lower Warren and who is very familiar with the DRI work being done in his neighborhood by the paving contractor, Luizzi.  He told me (and I have no reason not to believe him) that he was told by a reliable source that Hudson City Hall recently told Luizzi that if the DRI project is not finished by the end of June (today), they will be fined $1,000 a day until it is finished.

If true, I wonder if that includes repairing/replacing the cracked sidewalks Luizzi has left us with.

There was definitely a heightened sense of urgency on Luizzsi's part late last week.

On Saturday night at 7:30, I saw a pair of metal workers installing short decorative fences on the idiotic bumpouts at the intersection of 2nd & Warren.  Yesterday morning, I saw the same two fellas and their truck installing fences at Front & Warren.  Later in the day they were installing the metal railings along the concrete steps of the 2nd Street staircase, which is also a part of the DRI project.  The address on the side of the truck indicates the company is from the Bronx.

On Friday afternoon at Front & Warren, there must have been 8 Luizzi workers busy trying to get the idiotic bricks in the ground.  I haven't ever seen that many Luizzi workers together in one location.  I didn't know they had that many employees!

The picture below, taken yesterday, shows how much more work Luizzi still has to do on Front Street.  Will haste make waste?  I'm afraid that it already has!
