Plenty of dogs in need of relief have already made good use of the city's new $10,000 kiosk that was installed last week on the sidewalk in front of the city's parking lot next to MOTO Coffee. Can you blame them?

Soon after taking my pictures yesterday, two pertinent thoughts came to mind: First, all the fire hydrants on Warren Street are on the other side of the street (and, brother, are some of them rusty at their bases!). Will the city be forced to post signs all over town saying NO DOG URINE ALLOWED ON PARKING KIOSKS?
Second, the reason that one of the two kiosks for the Amtrak lot on Front Street had to be removed and discarded 2 or 3 years ago was because the base had rusted out so badly from neglect that it literally could no longer be secured to the concrete. That empty space was recently filled with one $10,000 parking kiosk. I think that kiosk is safe from dog pee since it isn't located directly on the sidewalk, but you never can tell.

While at the MOTO kiosk examining things, I watched a woman open the passenger side door of the car in the picture below. While the door was able to swing all the way open, it was within no more than three inches of striking the kiosk. If dog pee doesn't ruin the base of the back of that $10,000 kiosk, car doors (and other moving car parts) certainly will get the rest of it. You watch!
