It's been over 3 months since 5 useless $10,000 parking kiosks were installed around town. How much did that installation process cost taxpayers? How much did the plastic bags covering them cost city taxpayers? How much will replacement bags cost and who, if anyone, is responsible for keeping the unusable kiosks protected from the elements? Has City Hall completely given up?
If, as our police chief noted on the HPD fakebook page on August 11th, the kiosk rollout is ON HOLD while she is on maternity leave, why has the useless $10,000 kiosk near the city-owned Columbia County Mental Health building parking lot been without a protective plastic covering for the past few weeks? Who is responsible for that kiosk and the 4 others that were installed, as well as the 11 other useless-to-Hudson $10,000 kiosks that have been in a storage shed at the DPW garage on Dock Street since February, just 9 months ago? Is it HPD, the Parking Bureau (with one office employee), or DPW? Or could it be that no one at all is responsible for any of the sixteen $10,000 parking kiosks?
For the (possible) straight answers to these questions, we will have to wait a few months for our police chief to return from her second maternity leave since being promoted to the top of HPD two and a half years ago when she was very pregnant. Perhaps by then, if we are lucky, Mishanda will have figured a way out this shameful and expensive ugly mess. Don't count on it, though!
