Gettin' It Done The Morris Way!

Last night's monthly meeting of the Services Committee wasn't as notable for committee members who did show up (2) as it was for those members who did not show up, neither in person nor virtually (3).  Like not at all.

Committee chair Dominic Merante and Jen Belton were the only two of the five committee members to attend the meeting, so there was no quorum met.  Merante, as usual, didn't bother with a roll call; he just announced who was present (this saves time, I guess).  Gary Purnhagen, Lola Roberts and, yes, co-chair Claire Cousin were so far gone that they couldn't even attend the meeting via their own laptops.  Thank goodness Youth Department Director Calvin Lewis showed up so that Jen & Dominic had someone to listen to and ask questions of. (There is still no commissioner for the Office of the Aging/Hudson Senior Center.)

Guess who was absent from the Services Committee meeting three months ago in April?  You guessed it -- Purnhagen, Roberts and Cousin!  Purnhagen was also absent from the June meeting.  He's missed half of the six meetings.  Cousin hasn't been seen since the March meeting, having missed the past four.

The new committees are the creation of council leader Margaret Morris.  Hmmm....  Last night's meeting lasted all of 23 minutes.  No one from the public spoke or was given the opportunity to speak.  At the end, Merante said, "I guess we don't have to adjourn."  And that was that.  The sixth Services Committee "meeting" was in the books.
