8 Feet From The Curb, Two Feet Or Less From The Car Carrier Passing Through Town

Yesterday at about noon, I watched as a cement mixer turned off of Park Place to head east on Warren.  It couldn't have missed hitting mayor Ferris's new stop sign by more than 4 inches.  It may have been just two inches.  Prior to witnessing that near miss, I assumed that the first truck to destroy the new stop sign would be turning off of Warren, not onto it.  (The sign does not show any indications of being banged into.)

The picture above was taken last week.  Somehow the carrier did not make mincemeat of the mayor's stop sign.  From my vantage point, I wasn't able to see how close the rear end came to the sign, but it sure looks like it could have been inches moments after the picture was taken.

Thanks almost entirely to the Chinese take-out joint in the 700 block of Warren, it's not uncommon to see one or two vehicles double parked on either side of Warren near Park Place. (It's so ridiculous that double parking is allowed anywhere on Warren, but especially at Park.)  Today it was a white van owned by a company by the name of LA Painting double parked on the north side of the street, where it remained for at least 8 minutes with no one inside (I did not see it being double parked). The driver exited the Chinese take-out before finally moving his van along.

damages your van causes to other vehicles or
dead or injured bicyclists?
