By 6pm yesterday, the clear signs of a disgracity sunk to abysmal levels had unfolded on Columbia Street for all to see, walk by, and scan with their phones.
Who can help us? Certainly not Parking Captain Miller or the person supposedly in charge at HPD, Mishanda Franklin. Why, everyone knows that they're too busy monitoring every license plate on every vehicle that rolls through town thanks to their three newly installed surveillance cameras they didn't tell anyone about or get permission to purchase! What the hell do they care about a few more plastic parking signs headed for the landfill, all paid for by city taxpayers? What do they care if most people now feel that paid parking in downtown Hudson is annoying as hell (even if a sign or kiosk is available)? What do they care how ugly and dangerous Hudson is? They've got thousands of license plates to scan every day! Even at night!
"What damaged and missing parking signs are you talking about, sir? Where are they? What exactly is the problem with them? Why are you letting us know? And one of the $10,000 parking kiosks has been inoperable for 5 or 6 weeks, you say? Where? What's the problem with it exactly? Have you told the mayor about it yet? Have you called the company that manufactured the kiosk yet? Sorry, we're kind of busy here at 701 Union; we have several new computer screens to keep our eyes on at all times. Call back next week, maybe we can help you then."
Another pair of new $19 paid parking signs inching toward the trash can they deserve to be in but can't fit in.
