What's Missing From This Picture?

I love that the only sign inside or in front of the new and improved entrance to Promenade Park is a sign directing visitors to the other park found along Front Street...

There is not one sign in, or in front of, Promenade's entrance welcoming visitors.  Nor is there one sign outlining the rules of the park -- i.e., no smoking, no glass, the parks hours, and no bicycling.  The 7th street park has multiple signs indicating each of those rules.  The 7th Street Park also has a cheap bicycle rack.  Promenade Park has no bicycle rack.  One or two simple racks could have easily been incorporated into the entrance during construction, but I guess the park entrance's designer and Robert Perry both felt that bicycle racks were unnecessary.  If there is space allowing racks and signposts to be installed, drilling of the new concrete will be necessary.  It's called planning ahead.  A city that ignores opportunities to create the simplest of bicycle infrastructure is living in the past and doesn't much care about our future.
