The painted turtles in the turtle pond behind Oakdale Lake came out of hibernation in the past few days to do their basking. This is always a good sign, even if the color of the pond water does not look normal this year.
Soon the peepers and the frogs will be making their joyful sounds, looking for a mate and announcing that winter is done with. Now if we could just get some much needed April showers!
Not to let a positive post go unsoured, have a look at what DPW decided not to remove near the stream and pipe which they were working on two weeks ago: A monster truck tire by a stream in a sensitive area. It's probably been there for ten years or more. DPW had an earth mover and 3 or 4 workers there for two days, but they couldn't be bothered with removing the tire. If no one told them to do it, why would they bother?
