There seems to be no change at the Pocketbook Factory since I last reported on the lack of progress there about 6 weeks ago. Work on the building on N. 6th Street seems to still be on hold. The large crew that was there regularly earlier this year is long gone, and there has been no activity there in weeks. Gates were locked late this morning, with no cars in the contractor's headquarters on Washington Street.
Of course, the sidewalks surrounding the building, including an entire block of N. 6th, are still fenced off even though there is no reason to do so. Do you think this would be tolerated on Warren Street?
On a related note, the scaffolding taking up much of the sidewalk in front of CVS on Warren Street is still there, well after their DPW Sidewalk Permit expired. Seems like if a contractor is allowed to put up scaffolding that blocks a sidewalk, there ought to actually be someone on the scaffolding doing something, like swinging a hammer. DPW is obviously not making the contractor remove the unused scaffolding, even several weeks after the permit expired.
