And At Least One Month Later...

Have they given up?

... our neighbors at the Islamic Center still haven't touched the broken marble that unglued itself from the outside wall of their building "work in progress."

"A great gift to the City of Hudson!"

Since Code Enforcement's building permits are only valid for one year, the permit posted on the mosque-in-progress expired over two months ago.  This could be the 5th building permit issued for the "project," a word that implies actual work, ability and progress, 3 notions that are non-existent at the site.  The structure is already, literally, falling apart!

Remember the fanfare and great hopes when the ground was broken at 3rd & Columbia in the spring of 2018, with no Muslim women in attendance?

Rick Rector, mayor at the time and present at the ceremony, proclaimed, "This is a testimony to the community and a great gift to the City of Hudson," according to an archived online article from The Upstater.  The article also mentioned that "the Islamic Center still needs to raise money," and that, according to the builder, the mosque was scheduled to be finished in the spring of 2019, almost 5 years ago.  According to online info, that general contractor, Ago & Alaudin of Brooklyn, is "temporarily closed."

At this rate...
