Not Much We Can Do About It, It Seems

With the parking lot full of water, this was
as close as I could get to the boat club
Here are two pictures taken on Saturday at 5:45 pm, near high tide, of the boat club building next to the Riverfront Park.  All but a sliver of the club's parking lot was covered in water, water was up to the bottom inch or two of the front door, and the porch on the north side of the building was under water.  Also, half of the peninsula in the park was inundated.  This was definitely a few inches higher than what I saw and reported about on Wednesday.  And from the looks of the debris left behind in the park, the water had risen even higher than what I had witnessed!
Debris in the park left behind by the high tide,
nearly to the walkway

One wonders what, if anything, the boat club people can do (or are doing) about their building being flooded with increased regularity.  If news from across the river is any indication, things do not look good for the club.

The popular Port of Call restaurant, located next to Catskill Point along the mouth of the Catskill Creek, is closed for the winter due to "recent flooding."  The news on their website adds:  "Port of Call will be closed until Spring for cleaning and repair."
