Just Ten Dollars, The Same As Failing To Put Enough Quarters In A Parking Meter?

I'm have no idea how many feet one has to park their vehicle from a curb to be issued a $10 IMPROPER PARKING ticket by a HPD parking enforcer, but it appears to be at least 4 feet (I sure hope it's less than that, though).  That is the exact distance from the curb that the outside of the Jeep's front passenger side wheel was this morning on busy and narrow (and speedy) North 6th Street.  4 feet!

This begs some questions, though, doesn't it?  Is a car or truck parked 5 feet from the curb still just a $10 offense?  How about 6 or 7 feet from the curb?  Still just ten bucks?  How about if a car parked 3, 4 or 5 feet or more from the curb causes a car to swerve into an oncoming car or bicyclist?  IMPROPER PARKING, TEN DOLLARS PLEASE!  How about if HPD issues an IMPROPER PARKING ticket to a vehicle parked too far from the curb and the vehicle soon causes a crash because someone had to swerve out of its way?

Oh, Well?  Too Bad?  Better Luck Next Time?

No one unintentionally parks their vehicle four feet from the curb, whether the flashers go on or not.  Of course, plenty of people unintentionally don't put enough quarters in parking meters, and doing so cannot cause a car crash.  But the City of Hudson thinks that both parking violations are on the same level of severity, which is to say the lowest level, since there are no parking tickets with a fine less than ten dollars.  $10 tickets are set aside for the least serious of all parking violations, including parking several feet from the curb, even well into the traffic lane.  What the heck?
