Soon Enough There Won't Be Any View Left Of The Refurbished, Historic Upper Depot Building

The city code is clear: real estate signs can be no more than 15 square feet in area. 5 feet by 3 feet is all you get!  But the real estate sign that recently appeared at the corner of 7th & State is exactly 6 feet wide by 4 feet high.  That's 24 square feet of sign, more than 60% over the limit allowed by our city code.  Of course, the bottom of the sign is nearly 4 feet off the ground, which means the top of the 6-foot-wide sign is nearly 8 feet above the ground, making the sign appear even larger and more of a disgusting code violation eyesore with no right to be in a residential neighborhood than it already is.  Situate yourself just right on the sidewalk in front of the sign and your view of the Upper Depot completely disappears.  How fantastic is that!

One wonders if Nick Fox at Code Enforcement has noticed the oversized code violation real estate sign yet.

Do you think the owner of Tri-State Realty, Rudy Huston, cares about his gross code violation of a real estate sign that isn't located in the neighborhood where his business is located nor where, as I understand it, he resides?  While Rudy's name isn't on his large sign, the name and phone number of his real estate company located on Warren Street sure are.

At least you can still see most of the permanent food truck!

Maybe someday on his way to or from the Code Enforcement Department's office located one long block away at the end of North 7th Street, Nick Fox will notice the code violation real estate sign near the Upper Depot and soon give Mr. Huston a call, if only to ask him if he had been issued a sign permit from the Code Enforcement Department for his oversized real estate sign located in a residential neighborhood (and likely in a historic zone).  Heck, Tri-Hudson Realty's phone number is so large and so clearly printed on the sign that Nick won't even have to get out of his city-issued vehicle to write it down or dial it.  Easy peasy!
