As difficult as it is to believe and to write, here goes. A 30-room hotel, bar and restaurant with no off-street parking capabilities is coming to the corner of 4th & Warren.
I can't underscore enough how much of a shitshow things will be at the intersection and on North 4th once this hotel and bar, etc. is opened. If you think the Pocketbook parking problem has been a nightmare, particularly on the weekends, wait until this hotel opens on narrow one-way 4th Street in the heart of downtown. WITH NO OPTIONS FOR OFF-STREET PARKING! Are you f'ng kidding me?
New sidewalks surrounding the project were installed last week, so it's possible that the annoyance of stepping on and off the curb and walking in Warren Street for 100 feet will come to an end soon. Probably in 6 months if we are lucky.
I don't know what the plans or fate of Galvan's two attractive and large, vacant houses on 4th north of Prison Alley are, but why would anyone want to live there anymore? They might as well be razed. They have become useless collateral damage thanks to Galvan and their hotel. And the Hudson (so-called) Planning Board. And, I suppose, the feckless Common Council.
The moneyed forces calling the shots in Hudson -- with absolutely no interest in city residents' quality of life -- are making the city unlivable and unaffordable. Sure, there are lots of factors creating the affordability and stability crisis in America and here in Hudson, but a fucking hotel on 4th at Warren certainly isn't making life any better or cheaper for the residents of Hudson. Mark my words: if this hotel is a success, City Hall will come to see it as a huge, regrettable mistake. That is, of course, if anyone at City Hall ever decides to pay attention to what is actually going on in the city.
Where are all the guests and customers of this development going to park for the day and night, possibly for a few days and nights? On what streets? Or will they have to park in the City Hall parking lot more than one long block away? Is that where hotel management will direct their guests to park for the night without worrying about being ticketed? Next to this disgrace?
Or how about next to the city's most beloved homeless individual's other vehicle -- the one there is no room for him to sleep in -- that has been parked in the same space all year further west in the lot? Thank goodness the city issued him two permits so he could leave both of his broken-down vehicles where they are for another year! What would become of him and his two vehicles without the munificence of City Hall, the mayor and HPD? Better a homeless person's vehicles occupy those two spaces than a guest of a hotel or a day visitor to Hudson just trying to spend some money downtown, that's for sure!

| Where is it possible that a homeless person can own two vehicles? ONLY IN HUDSON! Why is the city allowing this, even encouraging it? |
Since the entire system of getting things accomplished in the city is an antiquated, dysfunctional mess, we can only expect more results that are bad for the city and its residents. Those bad results are evident everywhere, and they only seem to be growing and becoming more apparent by the day. More will be coming to 4th & Warren soon enough, don't you worry!

| Not just more unlivable, but also more unwalkable. |
