A Chronicle of Wa$te, Ignored Code Violations And Judicial Intrigue!

Here is an almost complete eight-day chronicle showing the typical unwelcome garbage situation behind 602 Warren Street. It proves that Hudson City Hall (primarily DPW and Code Enforcement) wastes money and doesn't really care about code violations or any of its residents and visitors. It's textbook stuff on how not to run a city properly.

You Gotta Wonder What, If Anything, Is Happening Over At Code Enforcement and How Much Longer the City Can Go On Like This

93 Days! At Least! But Who The F*%# Is Counting?

When, on January 31st of last year, I took a picture of the heavy-duty extension cord twisted around the city's light pole in front of Lolita's on Warren Street, the cord had been there for at least 4 weeks, possibly a whole lot longer.

Here are some pictures of the still charming, decorated pole that I took this weekend, in the year 2025.  The cord is still plugged into the outlet at the top of the pole that is only intended for DPW use.  How many live volts of electricity do you suppose that cord lying on the sidewalk has? 240 volts?  Or just 120 volts?

Wait A Minute! STOP Right There, Buster!

On Wednesday, HUDseen ran a one-picture piece showing one of the four freshly installed stop signs at the intersection of 2nd & Warren as part of Luizzi's ongoing DRI work. Those signs had replaced temporary signs which had replaced permanent signs about a month ago when work at the intersection began. The sign in the picture was leaning quite a bit, but it had most definitely been put in the wet concrete of the new bump-out earlier this week to make it permanent (until, of course, it eventually gets knocked over by a truck or car). If you look closely at the picture, you can see the stop sign across the street, on the southeast corner, which is not leaning, same as the other two on the north side of the intersection which I did not take pictures of because there was nothing noteworthy about them.  Work seemed to be progressing, with all four signs set in concrete, one of them not so well.

Does Anyone Screen Residents Who Volunteer To Help The City?

At about 6:00 pm last night, a full half hour into May's Public Works Board meeting, member Dave Marston interrupted the meeting as he entered the chambers and took a seat.  His voice could be heard by everyone as Justin Weaver was addressing the small group with important details about the city-wide sidewalk repair project, unfortunately known as SID (it sounds and looks like a sexually transmitted disease, doesn't it?).  Justin, who looked slightly annoyed, stopped speaking in mid-sentence, looked Dave's way and said, "I'm sorry, I'm losing my train of thought." 

Who Paid? Who Care$!

At the informal Common Council meeting 3 weeks ago, DPW Superman Rob Perry mentioned that his department had "averted a crisis" by power washing the stains off of the new and very expensive stone steps at the entrance to Promenade Park.  His explanation didn't make any sense and appears to have been one big lie, the subject of which may be an upcoming HUDseen article.  But there was another recent improvement at the two and half year-old park entrance, one that should have happened a year ago and that Perry failed to mention during his most recent DPW report.  You have to listen carefully to what our $123,000 DPW boss says just as much as TO WHAT HE DOESN'T SAY!
