We Do Not Currently Have An Acting Police Chief. It Seems We Have A "Member In Charge," Instead.

Lt. David Miller is
in charge of HPD
for the time being

Today via email, I tried to reach out to our new and very pregnant Police Chief Mishanda Franklin to let her know about something of concern to me.  However, it appears that Franklin is out for a while, most likely preparing to give birth, as I got an automatic reply that said she was "currently out of the office."  Franklin was sworn in as Hudson's new Chief of Police eleven days ago.

Then her email continued: "For any important correspondence or immediate concerns, please send to member in charge, Lt. Dave Miller.  I will have access to email/text and will be able to respond on a limited basis."  No time frame of the police chief's absence was offered.

To confuse matters further, the main webpage of the Hudson Police Department still features a picture of former Police Chief Ed Moore, who officially retired exactly two weeks ago.  There is no mention of Franklin or Miller being in charge of HPD -- they are both still listed as being lieutenants, and Moore is referred to as the chief.  By all accounts on HPD's site, Ed Moore never retired -- no information on HPD's webpage has changed since he waved goodbye two weeks ago.

Update: A few hours after press time, the HPD site was edited.   It now reads: Chief Mishanda Franklin.  There is no picture of her, nor any mention of her absence.

The HPD site still offers who the Police Chaplain is, but not who the Police Commissioner is or how to reach him/her.
